Here is a much waited, and very late review. I am sorry for the delay, believe it or not I have actually been working on my own lately since I seem to have cured my writers block but got bloggers block as a result of it. And I've also been sick and registering for classes and all of those fun things.
Anyways this review is better late then never so here is goes.
Pamela Aares is an author I put in the ranks with Bella Andre and Nora Roberts. Her books are articulate, they have great stories, the perfect balance of romance, story and sex. Love on the Line is the fourth instillation of the Heart of the Game Series. It tells us the story of Heiress Cara Barrington and All-Star Baseball player Ryan Rea. After a tragedy, Cara is hiding out in a small town called Albion Bay on the Californian Coast. Her life is quiet, peaceful and easy and it's a life she doesn't want to give up. But when she inherits her grandfathers company she has to make an impossible decision. Her heart and her mind don't always agree, she falls hard for Ryan, knowing it could threaten her anonymity and the life that she has built for herself in Albion Bay. Ryan is playing for keeps, and won't take no for an answer. But Ryan Rea has been deceived too many times, and it's a deal breaker for him.
Once again Pamela Aares wrote an amazing story that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. There always seems to be a mystery aspect to her book, this wasn't so much of a who-dun-it kind of mystery, more the mystery of what Cara is going to and what will happen with Ryan when she reveals her secret.
Cara's character was interesting because I simultaneously loved her and was extremely frustrated by her. I loved that she needed her privacy and needed to feel normal. And I understand the need to be a little selfish and put yourself first, but sometimes you have to weigh your options and make a decision for the greater good.
As always the author is amazing at description and making me feel like I am where the characters are. In writing my own story I can tell you just how hard it is to write a scenery and make the readers actually picture it, without becoming boring or to the point where readers are skipping past it. Honestly I want to live in a town like Albion Bay which is sorting I never thought I would say. It just seems so peaceful and like the whole town is your family.
The sex was well balanced. It wasn't like an erotica where it was all sex and that is what the story was centred around. Which don't get me wrong, I love me some erotica. But lately I find myself needed more of a story than just sex and a story. There was a very hot, very sweet and romantic love scene that cured my craving in this story. It was tasteful, well written and just really wonderful. I find I get attached to Pamela Aares characters quickly, which add to how amazing the love scenes are.
The story progressed at a really good pace, not too fast, not too slow and I felt that there was an impressive amount of character development. Both Cara and Ryan changed a lot, in really good ways.
Overall I give this story a solid 4.5 stars. I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Everything was flawless from description of characters, to description of the scenery, to character development, everything was just on point.
A big thanks to Pamela Aares, she was kind enough to send me an ARC of this amazing story, she is so kind and lovely and really needs more love from the romance lovers community because she is up there with the best of the best!
