3 1/2 stars, could become 4 after i think about it a little more, but I literally just finished the book. So I have been unsure if I wanted to read this book, it just didn't really captivate me from the description on the back because I need a really strong plot for me to actually enjoy the book. But today I just decided to try it and I actually enjoyed it a great deal. It has the psychological angle of two characters who suffered abuse in their past and how it affects their relationship. I enjoyed the story, I just hope it develops more in book 2 and 3 because the ending really flopped for me. Not the ending scene but the literal last 2 pages it was just kind if meh and could have been better, but overall a decent story.
What I did love is Gideon, he was so passionate as is typical of characters in this type of story, and I did love his character and can't wait for more development of his character in upcoming books. Eva bugged me a fair bit, she was just lacking a backbone which really drives me insane. I don't need a extreme feminist character who doesn't let any man in but eva was just infuriating. She made resolutions in her mind and then the second Gideon is in the same room she crumbled and I just want to be like "come on girl, be a woman!"
I might change my mind after reading the next book but so far I am not displeased but I didn't love it like I have other books -cough- on Dublin street -cough- Gabriel's inferno -cough- but yeah needless to say I will continue the series and there were points in the book I genuinely loved but the end flopped for me and I really think the ending makes all the difference.
Oh and btw I read it in less than a day, I purchased it early today and finished it this night so I didn't have any issues getting into the story or keeping interest and that says a lot for me. And I have not read fsog because this is not my usual cup of tea
