Hello Book Lovers!
So before I start this review can we just take a moment and look at the cover? Like holy rainbow unicorns! I just want to sink my teeth into that cheek peeking out, like come on! There should be rules about making book covers so hot that I spontaneously combust.
When your done having your moment, and please take your time I will begin the review.
So, I have been on a book binge, so I just kind of went to kobo and bought a bunch of books that looked good and had a near 4 star (or higher) rating on goodreads. This was one of them because, come on that freaking cover! But the story also intrigued me. There is something that I absolutely loved about this story. From the Gideon Cross-esk dominate male, without all of the baggage (there is some but not as sever as Damien) to the fiery real estate agent who takes what she want, I just really loved the story. The story was very compelling and I just couldn't put it down.
Okay quick summary! Surrender Your Love is a passionate love story between millionaire panty-dropper Jett Mayfield and commitophobe realtor Brooks Stewart. From the get go their connection could light the world on fire, but it develops into something deeper as Jett breaks down all of Brooke's defences and finds her heart.
This story was hot. Like I'm surprised my eReader didn't melt as I was reading it kind of hot. The steam factor was high, very high and very well written. Holy unicorns it was good. Probably some of the best steamy scenes I have read in a while. So that was a major perk, there wasn't too much sex, it didn't over power the story. There is still a defined plot which I appreciated.
In Surrender Your Love it seems to me like the stage is being set for an incredible mystery/drama coming up in Conquer Your Love and Treasure Your Love. There is a lot of character development, especially for Brooke, her vulnerability and past is explored so you know how much of her heart is at stake with the relationship. During the whole story there is this air of mystery surrounding the estate that Jett is trying to procure. So I am really looking forward to the next two books because y'all know how much I love a good mystery.
J. C. Reed's descriptive technique was flawless for the most part. When Brooke and Jett are in Italy I can actually smell and taste the food that she describes (it probably didn't help that I was reading this close to supper) and envision the sheer beauty of Italy. The only thing I yearned for was more description on Brooke, I feel like I din't really get a picture of her in my head, but that may come more in the next book.
More than anything I am really excited to continue the series, I have already bought the next two books because I am soooo excited to see how the story continues. It is just starting to get angst-y and dramatic and I love it!
My only real complaint is lack of discussion about contraception. This is a weird little pet peeve of mine. Even though the story is obviously fictional I appreciate when condoms or birth control are mentioned. It's a little technicality that most people probably don't care about but I like safe sex. If there is no mention of condoms or birth control I am always wondering if there is going to be a pregnancy in the story (which I always love, don't get me wrong) but I just think that responsible adults should think about these things, even if they are just characters in a book.
Any-hoo rant over. Surrender You Love was awesome, I cannot wait to start reading Conquer Your Love and see how Jett and Brooke's story continues, especially after that wicked cliffhanger!
This book definitely gets a solid 4.5 panty-dropping stars from me, and I have a feeling the whole series will get an even higher rating from me if it continues to be as amazing as the first one.
Thank you for reading this review! I hope you enjoyed it, please share your thoughts! And if you've read the book what did you think?
Peace, Love, and Panty-Droppers!
