Hello Literarians! (what do you think, yay? Nay? Let me know)
If you read my last review you will know I have series binged on Tessa Bailey's Line of Duty Series, I honestly don't thing I have ever finished a book series this fast, it's been less than a week and I've polished off all 5 and book 1.5. And I sometimes I swear I could smell my clothing burning with how hot these all were.
Protecting What's His centres around Ginger Peet, a twenty something young that finds $50,000 with unknown origins in her house, and in order to create a better life for her teen sister she takes it and runs. Upon entering her new life, she meets Derek Tyler, a grouchy but infuriatly sexy Chicago PD detective. Of course sparks fly, pulses race and they enter into a complicated game of romantic cat and mouse.
I absolutely loved Ginger's character. She is everything I look for in a female lead, feisty, balsy, independent with a sharp tongue and plenty of sarcasm. She's not afraid to go balls to the wall. And Derek is the exact same, he is possessive, dominant, mouthy (in more ways that one ;), knows what he wants and isn't afraid to fight for it. Together they could light the world on fire.
The plot is one that I enjoyed. There is an air of foreboding during the entire story as you are wondering when Ginger's past is going to come back to bite her in the ass. And what is Derek going to do to protect her. It made for a really interesting story.
The sex was fucking hot. There was more than enough, not too much, and there was variety which I like, the author kept it interesting. And as I have mentioned, Derek is possessive and dominant, which for me made the sex even hotter. I loved that he took control but it didn't become BDSM-y at all. Every time they got close to each other I felt my panties melting off.
So basically this book is a must read. There is nothing about it that I didn't like. This whole series is a must read. The best part is that Tessa Bailey also wrote a teeny tiny novella continuing their story, in the best way possible! I have reviewed that down below.
Thanks for reading this review! Stay tuned for the reviews of the next four books in the Line of Duty series.
Peace, love and panty dropping cops ;)

So I only discovered there was a Line of Duty 1.5 after reading book 3. And I was ecstatic. I read this is less than a half hour and it was such a sweet treat. Out of all the stories I really think that Ginger and Derek are my favourite and getting to see their Happily Ever After was wonderful. There were certainly some bumps (double meaning once again) along the way but they really do belong to each other.
First of all the cover is just amazing, the colours, the hand placement, the very obvious title (come on you have to know it's about a pregnancy from the whole "Theirs" thing.) And I think it made me even more excited to read it. Now Tess Bailey just has to do these for the other four books.
There was definitely some angst which me being me, I loved. And it was just the perfect sweet conclusion to a great set of characters.
