So I bought Wallbanger by Alice Clayton a couple months ago when Indigo had it for 40% off and since it is in my genre that I love to read, I picked it up, come on it's hard to say no to 40% off. And then it went to my book shelf, I just wasn't really in a reading mood when I bought it but a couple of days ago I had just finished Fighting for Irish and Before Jamaica Lane and I was on a reading kick so I grabbed this off of my shelf and threw it in my work bag. And while I was waiting for my shift to start, I started reading. And almost peed my pants.
Hands down this is one of the most hilarious romance novels I have ever read, there is loads of tongue and cheek humour, and flat out dirty jokes. I feel like someone finally understands me and my sense of humour. I liked that I was laughing out loud in the staffroom while reading this book, and there were moments where I was drinking my coffee and choked because of a raunchy comment in the book. It was a nice change from what I usually read. There is still the romantic aspect, like majorly, the whole book is pretty much foreplay.
There were so many things I loved about this book. I love how Caroline refers to the different parts of her body and psyche like they are actual people, and how she refers to her orgasm as O and actually talks to her O, same with her brain (which for the longest time I thought read Brian, I was very tired) and her backbone, and how they almost talked to each other. I know myself I frequently talk to my brain and my backbone and especially that bitch nerves and I think it adds something to a story because you see how she interacts with the different parts of herself. I love how there were different types of writing. Now this is going to be kind of hard for me to explain to people who haven't read the book because it's very unique to almost any other book I have read. Alice Clayton frequently uses text messages as a writing tool, she actually wrote text conversations between the characters, but the best part is it wasn't just between Simon and Caroline it was also between Caroline and her friends, Simon and his, and conversations between other characters in the book. There is also a really fun scene where Simon Caroline and two of their friends are in the car and their different thoughts are written so you get to experience the drive from inside the brains of these characters which is really fun! It's a different way to experience a story progress.
Honestly there is anything bad I can say about this book because I loved every minute of it, I haven't read any of Alice Clayton's other books before but after reading this I am ordering the Redhead series because if it's even half as good as Wallbanger I am sure it will have me on the floor actually rolling on the floor laughing my ass off.
So I give this book a solid 5 pink nightie stars with a bonus 2 wallbanging stars for almost making me pee my pants (I'm not kidding y'all, it's that funny). If you haven't tried Alice Clayton's books before, please check them out, they are a great change and something very unique in the romance genre that I guarantee you will love!
Peace, Love and Thin Wall!
