Hello Beauty Lovers!
So since I have been trying soooo many new products recently I want to focus on my favourites, especially those products that just really stand out as my favourites in a certain category, I have already finished the review for my favourite bronzer, you may have seen it already or it may be up next week. There are going to be quite a few more of these I hope, foundation, blush, brushes, eye primer, those sorts of things. So I hope you enjoy and if there is one you want to read about specifically, like my favourite body wash or something like that, please just let me know. Also if there are ever any products that you really want me to review just tweet me and I am happy to try and review them for you!
Now to the review. To me the perfect concealer is like a unicorn, I want to believe it exists but it just keeps alluding me. I think with this concealer I have found pretty close to perfect. I have very fair skin so finding a concealer that is cruelty free, light enough for my skin, doesn't emphasize my dry skin, and actually does a half decent job of covering what needs to be covered is, well it's like trying to find a unicorn. The Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil is definitely the closest I have found to perfect so far.
I wear the shade CIA which is a "light ivory for fair to light complexions" I was actually impressed with how close to my skin this matches, if I had less redness on my cheeks I would probably just use this to cover up little spots and be set to go. According to Sephora it is:
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dye
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan
Again less chemicals which I always appreciate, it's just nice that they leave out a lot of crap that doesn't need to be in cosmetics, and Urban Decay is cruelty free (they are owned my L'Oreal though whom are not cruelty free but I personally buy from companies as long as they themselves are cruelty free).
What I really love about this concealer is the ease of application, once I have my foundation on I just draw onto any spots that need to be covered, this is usually my chin, my nose, under my eyes and any little spots that have decided to make an appearance that day. Then I just blend it out with my beauty blender and it gives good coverage without looking cakey. This is also a product that if I didn't have foundation I could use all over my face in a pinch, again blending with the beauty blender. It is completely fuss free, you can even blend it out with your fingers, I just like using my beauty blender because I use it to apply my foundation anyways and I like the way it blends.
The only con with this concealer is you can't use it on dry skin. I finally have a moisture routine where I don't have any dry patches (this will be a review soon!) but before I did I didn't love this concealer because it does emphasize dry patches. So I definitely recommend making sure you skin is properly hydrated and primed and I also recommend using it over your foundation for better coverage.
So in review:
Pros:
- Pretty good shade range, especially for fair and light skin
- Very Good Coverage
- Easy to Apply
- Travel Friendly
- Applies exactly where you want it
- Stores easily
- Fits in a purse nicely for on the go touch ups
- Not cakey
- Cruelty free
- Not crazy expensive, it's $22 which is reasonable for high end concealer
Cons:
- Can't be used on dry skin, you really need to have hydrated and primed skin before applying
- Doesn't give complete coverage
This is definitely a great concealer that is a must have for any beauty bag, especially for travel, it's not messy, it's not in a pot or a tube so it applies exactly where you need it. I know a lot of people have mentioned that you need to buy the UD sharpener, personally I have a sharpener that works for jumbo pencils, I got it for like $3 at sally's beauty supply (I will post a pic down below) that works perfectly, I just take out the little thingamagiger and it sharpens no problem.
So if you haven't tried this concealer, go check it out, it's my favourite concealer that I use every day and I love to bits, what is your favourite concealer? Click here to go to my Beauty Talk profile and we can talk about all things fabulous!
